Bring an easy first question.

A favourite song, a place you’d love to visit or the best part of your day can turn a first hello into a conversation. Ask one open question, share your own answer and give your match room to respond.

Try asking “What have you been listening to lately?” and offer a song of your own. One question with room to answer is easier to respond to than a list of unrelated questions.

Let the conversation find its pace.

You do not need a perfect opening line. Take turns speaking and follow up on something your match mentions, rather than trying to fill every pause.

Keep personal details out of the introduction. You can talk about a hobby or a favourite film without sharing your full name, workplace or where you live.

Do I need to download an app?

You can open the matching experience in a supported browser. Video calls need camera and microphone access; follow any account prompts shown on screen.

Is a one-on-one call completely private?

One-on-one describes the call format, not a guarantee of secrecy. Another participant could capture or record what you share. Keep sensitive details off camera and read the privacy policy.

What if a call does not connect?

If the matching screen offers a retry, follow that option. For a blank camera, missing sound or connection trouble, use the video call setup guide.
